Project description

The objective of this project is to implement an autonomous robot that is able to find the navigation path on its own based on the image processing and Ultrasonic sensor module. The robot movement can also be controlled using the Android device using the Bluetooth communication. The task of the robot is to navigate inside the agriculture field and detect the weed inside the crops using the image processing techniques. The detected weed has to be removed by the robot using the pulling mechanism or by using the laser beam. For navigation inside the field, the robot uses the drip irrigation line as the line of reference for movement, this is achieved using the line following using the image processing. Following are the list of modules in the agriculture robot. The robots uses a wireless communication for interacting with other similar robots, flying quadcopter and with the server

Mini-Project: Implementation of line following robot using image processing and the android control for the robot using Bluetooth communication is taken up as a mini-project for the M.Tech Automotive systems program.

Major-Project: In addition to the Mini-project content, implementation of leaf/plant detection using image processing and weed removal is the major project for M.Tech Automotive systems program.

Further research: Further research in the agriculture machines is to implement multiple communicating robots using a suitable communication algorithm considering the communication distance and the environment.

Android OpenCV:Usage of Android application for image processing, this can be done by the use of OpenCV library for android. The Android device uses its own camera for image capture and Bluetooth for communicating with the Arduino for Robot control. By this way we can avoid the use of Raspberry pi and the complicated wiring and interfacing. The other possibility would be to use only the Raspberry pi advanced board or other similar board which has the capability to do image processing, motor control and communication with other devices.
